Pikanini Room Term 2

Over Term 2 in the Pikanini Room, we have been busy welcoming new children while focusing on creating a strong sense of belonging so that every child feels safe, secure, and supported, while also nurturing secure relationships. We have been providing the children with a range of open-ended experiences that support creativity, as well as fine and gross motor development.

In May, we acknowledged National Sorry Day. To recognise this, the children had the opportunity to create their own Aboriginal flags using coloured paints, with a visual flag to “copy” in their own way, and they all turned out amazing.

We have also continued to build our little friends’ skills by encouraging them to hold the donut rope while walking around the yard and centre, with the aim of familiarising them and building confidence for evacuation purposes.
