On Friday 14th October we celebrated the effort, learning and achievement of students in years 4 to 6 in the areas of Mathematics, English Science and Leadership.
We were pleased to have Mr Mitchell, Mr Moses, Primary staff attend along with College Board Members and Mayor of Rockingham Mr. Barry Sammels and Member for Brand, Ms. Madeline King MP.
Our school motto shows us that a keen and successful learner must have a rigorous mind and a compassionate heart.
A rigorous mind might be described as someone who is persistent, resilient, has a positive attitude, is diligent, and has a willingness to always embrace new information, balance it with what they already know and what the Bible teaches.
Additionally, at South Coast Baptist College our goal is to also encourage young people grow into adults who have strong Godly character, with both a heart for God and compassion for people.
The Academic Achievement Awards are our time to recognise those students who have embraced these ideals and have applied themselves to the pursuit of excellence in learning in the academic environment.
The Academic Awards are not limited to 1 child per class, nor 1 child per year level. They are open to all students in Years 4 to 6 who achieve the required results.
To be awarded an Academic Achievement Award in English and Maths students in years 4 to 6 must achieve an A or B in two consecutive semester reports.
We are delighted to have been able to awards 36 Academic Achievement Awards to students across years 4 to 6, and 6 Academic Excellence Awards to students across years 4 to 6.
Our Primary School Head boy and Head girl received a leadership Award and 2 students in year 6 received a Science Award from Sci-Tech.
