On Friday the Year 7 Football Academy took on Mercy College in the State final at John XXIII college.
The windy conditions were a challenge and Mercy went 2-0 up during the first half. However the boys responded favourably to go into half time 2-1 down.
With the wind behind their backs the year 7 team maintained pressure on the Mercy defence and were able to score a will timed shot and finish normal time with the score all tied up.
Extra time went quickly and the team was able to put away 2 goals to finish the game strongly.
Credit to Trim Morgan and his team from Mercy College. It was a good opportunity for the players to come up against a quality football team. Big thankyou to Trent Sharpe and all the staff at ACC for their ongoing support. Thankyou to Football West for their support and also to Taylor for his service in running a line on the day. Afian took all the wonderful photo’s and thankyou to Mr Watts for driving the bus. Thanks to all the parents who were able to come out and support the players. Thanks to Chris Thackray and all the football coaches at SCBC for all their efforts in getting the team to the final and beyond.
We are looking forward to the 2018 competition.
