On Wednesday, 11th September, all students in Year 4 participated in Entrepreneurs Day. The morning was filled with excitement as students showcased their products or games for their stall. The weather was warm, and the excitement began as soon as the first customers arrived. There were ice cream sundaes, lolly bags, a variety of carnival games, cupcakes, homemade lemonade, sausage rolls, slime, bookmarks and a raffle to name a few. Students learnt important money handling skills, with calculating change. Upon reflecting on the day, the highlights from students were seeing big smiles on their customers’ faces and seeing people enjoy the products they had made. They were also delighted to see the generosity of one student who told the stall to keep the change.
The total amount raised on the day was $2 263.20 which will be donated to the Watoto Foundation. The information below is from their website: https://www.watoto.com/about/
“In a time of civil war, we planted Watoto Church in Kampala, Uganda to speak hope and life to the nation.
Since then, Watoto has placed thousands of orphans in families, empowered vulnerable women to reach their communities, rescued babies and former child soldiers, and sent children’s choirs across six continents…” The Year 4 teachers would like to especially thank the Year 4 parents for all their work behind the scenes to help them to make their products and prepare the games. We would also like to thank the parents who were able to help run the stalls on the day, they helped the day to be a success!
