In celebration of World Environmental Day on Wednesday, 5th June 2019, our Pikanini room children were encouraged to plant lavender cuttings.  They were also shown how we can replant lavender to become another tree.

The children found this whole process very interesting and participated very well. They were so focused and could hardly wait their turn to plant the lavender. They even scooped up their own soil which develops their fine motor skills and also the intrigue of Horticulture began. The educator communicated the process throughout this experience creating wonderful conversational exchanges between their peers and the educators, developing their language and cognitive skills.
