At SCBC we encourage our students to demonstrate empathy toward others and have a compassionate heart.
During Term 3, our Year 7 students were invited to participate in a service project (as part of HEALTH), which involved collecting and donating toiletries. These donations will be given to two charities that assist people in either drug rehabilitation (Fresh Start) or homelessness (Shop Front). As teachers, we have been blown away by the generosity of our Year 7 students and their families who collectively donated over a thousand items. Thank you to those who donated, the students who gave up their lunch to count and pack the toiletries into bags, and Mr Hywood for organising this project.
A special mention and big thank you to Year 7 student, Ahurangi Blakely and her family who fundraised and contributed toward a significant amount of this project.
Shaping rigorous minds and compassionate hearts!
