At the end of the last term, our Year 7 students participated in a mock trial complete with a judge and jury, prosecution and defense legal teams, clerks, witnesses, media, and a public gallery. Students have been learning in class about the principles of the rule of law and what makes a trial fair in Australia. Students listened carefully to the evidence and statements presented to determine if Luke Skywalker was in fact guilty of wrongfully destroying Darth Vadar’s death star. The student filled juries determine that Luke as not guilty due to the act being of self-defense.
