YEAR 11 AND 12 STUDY SKILLS SEMINAR

In Week 2 of the academic year, we hosted a Study Skills Seminar to motivate and challenge all Year 11 and 12 students to start the year well, as they settle into their subjects of choice for the achievement of the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE). There are a number of WACE requirements that need to be met over a two-year period, requiring a focus on study strategies and habits to ensure academic success across all areas of learning.

The three presenters from Elevate Education were enthusiastic and dynamic, current university students who workshopped a range of relevant topics in tackling the ATAR and General courses as well as Workplace Learning and Vocational studies.

The topics covered included the following:

  • Time management,
  • Acing exams,
  • Goal setting,
  • Motivational strategies, and
  • Study strategies.

The feedback survey from the students was impressively positive with 100% of responses indicating how they could benefit from the tips and strategies made relevant by the presenters’ anecdotes from their own personal experience in having undergone a similar journey.

Ongoing support: all the Year 11 and 12 students have access throughout the year to the Elevate website at: https://austudent.elevateeducation.com/.

By entering the group password in the student portal, they have access to further tips, discussions, advice, and motivation. I encourage all Year 11 and 12 students to make use of this platform and persist in their commitment to a study action plan throughout the year – these keys will ensure academic success and motivation through active engagement in learning from the outset.
