After a four-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the SCBC Secondary students were thrilled to embark on their long-awaited school trip to Sydney and Canberra. This marked a return to a cherished tradition that had been sorely missed.
Parliament House: A Pivotal Experience
One of the most memorable highlights for the students was their visit to Parliament House. This excursion provided a unique opportunity to delve deeper into Australian history, government, and society. The visit perfectly complemented their classroom learning, offering a tangible and immersive experience.
Iconic Sydney: A City of Wonders
In Sydney, the students explored some of the city’s most iconic landmarks. They marveled at the Sydney Harbour Bridge, took in the breathtaking views from the Opera House, and witnessed the grandeur of Stadium Australia. Beyond these famous attractions, the students likely also enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere of the city, its beautiful beaches, and the opportunity to experience Australian culture firsthand.
Nature’s Beauty: The Blue Mountains
A trip to Sydney wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the stunning Blue Mountains. The students likely had the chance to hike through lush rainforests, admire breathtaking waterfalls, and experience the unique beauty of the eucalyptus-filled landscape.
Overall, the school trip to Sydney and Canberra provided the students with a valuable and unforgettable experience. It was a chance to learn outside the classroom, explore new places, and create lasting memories.
PACER Rebate
The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government contributes funding to our school in the amount of $510 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program.
